What is "道" ?
Through Shinkiryu we would like everyone to pursue their own “道(Michi). “
What is “道”?
If we translate it into Japanese simply, “道” means “a way.”
However, it means more than that.
First, the kanji “道” can be broken down into two parts, “首” and “⻌.”
“首” means “a neck” which implies “life,” and “⻌” represents a path to a peak of a mountain.
In addition, the pronunciation of “道” is also a key. “道” is pronounced as “Mi-Chi” which is the same pronunciation of “未知” and “身血.”
The first one, “未知,” means something unknown, and the second one, “身血,” means a body and blood.
In conclusion, “道” is a pursuit of the ultimate truth requiring us to devote our lives in which process we continue to realize the unknown not only in the head but also in the body.
You have your own "道"
In Japanese culture, we have some traditions with “道” in their names such as “武士道(Bushi-do),” “茶道(Sa-do),” meaning tea ceremony, “書道(Sho-do),” meaning calligraphy, “弓道(Kyu-do),” meaning Japanese archery, and so.
